9/21 – The Chief’s “Spotty Rain Possible” Thursday Morning Forecast

A few showers and isolated thunderstorm have been ongoing early this morning over the Mississippi Sound. This is in response to a weak easterly wave in the Gulf of Mexico, slow drifting west and decaying. This activity will continue mainly over the sound; however a spotty shower could make its way onshore. The possibility of a shower will continue into this afternoon diminishing this evening.  The chance of a shower or a thunderstorm returns on Friday afternoon. Temperatures for today and Friday will be slightly above average in the upper 80s. For the first weekend in autumn there will be sunshine and high temperatures in the upper 80s. Rain chances will be almost non-existent this weekend, due to high pressure returning as the dominate feature.

Towards the start of the new workweek, a cold front will make an attempt to move south and east from the Red River Valley and Ozarks into the central Gulf Coast states. This will increase rain chances through Wednesday to 20/30 percent. Temperatures will not change much toward the end of the 7 day.
