9/1 – Sam Parker’s “Hot Labor Day” Sunday Night Forecast

As the surface trough over the northwestern Gulf slides a bit farther from the local area and upper level ridging tries to build into the area, the deep tropical moisture that has engulfed the local area over the last several days will be shunted a bit farther southwest.  The ridging aloft won`t be strong enough to completely suppress thunderstorms but it should be enough to keep showers and storms more in the isolated to widely scattered. Have dropped the forecast rain chances for Monday a bit compared to the previous forecast and am generally now carrying only 20% chance. With lower rain chances and more sunshine afternoon temperatures are now forecast to rise into the mid to upper 90s across the area. With the extra sunshine, dewpoints may rise to the levels the so this forecast calls for heat index values right around 100-105 degrees in several areas.
