81 boats compete for major cash prize at Gulf Coast Billfish Classic

A million dollars on the line and all they have to do is reel in the biggest catch!

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic had 81 different boats travel in a single file line from the Golden Nugget to the Beau Rivage and then they were cut loose to travel anywhere from 100 to 300 miles off shore to begin the tournament.

The scales at Point Cadet Marina behind Golden Nugget will open at 3 tomorrow afternoon and then again Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Events Director Robbie Carter invites everyone to come out for this incredible family-friendly experience. “I want everyone and their grandmother to come to the weigh-ins this Saturday. There’s going to be a lot of fish, a lot of big boats for everyone to see. This is awesome. This event belongs to coastal Mississippi and we’d like to see everyone come out with their families.”

After seeing what the anglers bring back, an awards ceremony will take place Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
