77th annual Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo begins

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — The 77th annual Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo kicked off on Thursday at Jones Park in Gulfport.

The event attracts anglers from all over, all looking to reel in the biggest fish and claim coveted prizes. A variety of both saltwater and freshwater fish are weighed and left out for spectators to see, including sharks, stingrays and gar — among many others.

There are also concerts, carnival rides, games, vendors and a pageant for those who want to stay on shore.

The event runs from July 3rd through July 6th from noon to 10:30pm each day.
