76th annual Dedeaux Bazaar

Since 1945, the Dedeaux Bazaar has become a staple in Hancock County.

The bazaar is a festival that has a little something for everyone to enjoy. The bazaar is home to a weekend long slow-pitch softball tournament, carnival rides, all kinds of food from seafood to gumbo, and a chance to get up close and personal with local politicians running for office.

Several candidates took to the stage delivering campaign speeches.

The Dedeaux Bazaar is a tradition that continues to be passed down from generation to generation. Community member Joan Ladner Alford said, “What I am most impressed with is how the generation has stepped up and taken over from probably four or five generations ago.”

Dedeaux Bazaar Chairman Marcus Ladner said, “As you look around, we have a very rich history here. The Dedeaux Bazaar was founded in 1945, about 76 years ago, by Clifton and Mazie Ladner, as well as Mr. Roosevelt Ladner. Now, the generations including their descendants and others have carried the bazaar info what it is today.”

Sacred Heart Church in Dedeaux hosts the bazaar every year which is most famous for the Dedeaux burger.
