7/9 – Sam’s “Hot, Humid and Slightly Rainy” Wednesday Morning Forecast
We’re looking at a stretch of hot, mostly sunny days with highs in the low to mid-90s. Each afternoon brings a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms, which is typical for this time of year. Rain chances increase on Thursday and Friday, with storms likely during the afternoon hours. Expect overnight lows to remain warm and muggy in the mid-70s. The weekend looks a bit drier but not storm-free, with around a 50 percent chance of storms each afternoon. By early next week, temperatures climb into the mid-90s, with storm chances returning on Monday and becoming more likely by Tuesday.
While the Gulf has remained fairly quiet in terms of tropical activity, today is National Emergency Kit day and it serves as a good reminder to make sure our hurricane kits are ready to go. There are hints that we could be watching an area in the Northern Gulf within the next few weeks however, we still have roughly 5 months to go in hurricane season with the peak activity occurring around September 10.
