7/28 Chris’s “HOT” Friday Afternoon Forecast
High Pressure is to our south in the gulf and is the most dominate feature today into the weekend. Today and Saturday will be hot with the chance of an isolated afternoon shower and a few thunderstorms. Starting on Saturday dew-points will be on the increase which will cause heat index values to rise as well. Saturday could be the start of a couple of days with HEAT ADVISORIES needed. An easterly wave will approach from the east before pushing back further east on Sunday. This will bring additional moisture and instability to the area increasing rain chances during the afternoons.
Hot temperatures and elevated rain chances are the main story heading into the start of August. A cold front will move into south central Mississippi, just north of the interior counties elevating rain chances Monday thru Thursday. Temperatures will be downright hot with heat indices well over the century mark.
