7/24 – Sam Lucey’s “Warm and Damp” Thursday Evening Forecast

Scattered storms linger into the weekend before summer heat takes over

Showers and thunderstorms continue into the overnight tonight, with a 50% chance of rain under mostly cloudy skies. Lows will drop to around 77 degrees with rainfall totals reaching up to three-quarters of an inch.

Rain becomes more widespread on Friday, with a high chance of thunderstorms throughout the day and a high near 89. South winds will pick up between 10 and 15 mph in the afternoon before dropping overnight. Rain chances remain elevated into the evening, especially before sunset.

Storms are likely again on Saturday, particularly in the morning and afternoon, but there will be plenty of sunshine in between. Highs will reach the low 90s with light southerly winds. Conditions begin to settle by Saturday night, with partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 70s.

Sunday brings a little more sun and heat, with highs in the low to mid 90s and only a slight chance of afternoon storms.

The beginning of next week looks hot and drier, with highs soaring into the upper 90s under plenty of sunshine. A few isolated storms are possible into Tuesday and Wednesday, but overall, the trend favors hot, mostly sunny conditions with typical summer rain chances.

We will continue to monitor for heat alerts in the coming days.
