7/17 – Chris’s “Above Average Temperatures” Monday Morning Forecast

This morning there is a stationary boundary to the north us across the I-20 corridor with cloud coverage all across the southern six counties. Temperatures are much cooler this morning than yesterday morning. This afternoon temperatures will be in the low 90s, however heat indices will remain below advisory level. This is due to sea-breeze activity that will form coupled with daytime heating especially to the south of I-10 this afternoon. Activity will be brief and sparse with only a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Tomorrow temperatures will warm to the mid 90s across the area with the potential of a heat advisory. Shower and thunderstorm activity will be very minimal with no boundary in the area. The rest of the workweek high pressure will become the dominant feature with temperatures in the mid 90s for the rest of this week. High pressure really limits the ability for showers and thunderstorms to form even in the afternoon hours.

This week temperatures go back below average with daytime highs in the upper 80s. Rain chances will also become elevated again due to a front that will be draped across the northern gulf south states. High pressure then moves further to the south into the Gulf of Mexico allowing for increased precipitation.
