67-year-old attempts to rob business in Gulfport in order to return to prison
A man who had recently been released from prison is back in custody today after attempting to rob a Gulfport business.
67-year-old Michael John Polotnik was arrested and charged with one count of armed robbery.
On March 7th, officers from the Gulfport Police Department responded to the 9300 block of Highway 49 in reference to an armed robbery.
According to witnesses, Polotnik went into the business and gave them a note that he was robbing them and he had a weapon. When his demand was not met, Polotnik grabbed the note and ran.
He was taken into custody and told detectives that he had been recently released from prison and wanted to go back. He said if he had not been arrested, he had plans to rob another business.
Polotnik was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
