6/9 – Night Rob’s “Severe Potential Tomorrow” Thursday Evening Forecast
Pascagoula (Moss Point-Trent Lott International Airport) led the way again this afternoon with a real-feel temperature of 110 degrees at 2 PM. Heavier showers cooled things down a bit, but only temporarily. Some more heavy showers are possible early this evening before it quiets down into another warm, muggy night.
Tomorrow is a different story, as a more significant severe threat looms. We’re the slight risk (level 2 of 5) for severe storms, with an enhanced risk (level 3) to our northwest from Hattiesburg to Jackson. We haven’t seen these levels since earlier in the spring season. THE primary threat with these will be damaging wind gust, and a secondary hail danger. Wind gust potential could be significant with these. As of now, the timing on Friday looks to be sometime after 3 PM.
As far as heat, it appears to have peaked today, but it won’t go down by much. Some more spotty storms are possible Saturday before things calm back down to a 20% chance on Sunday.
Since this weekend cold front will not make it through the area. (it’ll stall and dissipate), the heat will come right back Sunday into early next week as if there had been no front at all. It could actually be even on Monday and Tuesday before cooling just slightly later in the week.
