6/20 – Sam’s “Summer-Like” Friday Night Forecast
We have another heat advisory on tap for Saturday across parts of South Mississippi from 11 am to 7 pm. High temperatures are expected to top out in the low to mid 90s with the heat index hovering around 108 through much of the afternoon. Showers and storms will be a bit more spotty on Saturday as compared to Sunday when we are expecting just a slightly higher coverage.
This would be a great weekend to spend on the water! Conditions are very favorable with mostly calm seas in the morning due to calm or light northerly winds, and a light chop in the afternoons as winds pick up out of the south.
Monday and Tuesday will also see a slight increase in showers and storms around the area, but that will drop off by the middle of the week. Temperatures will also continue to creep up into the mid and upper 90s by the middle of next week, with more heat advisories possible.
The tropics are remaining quiet as we are still seeing a good bit of Saharan Dust in the mid to upper atmosphere, which helps to suppress tropical activity. Gulf and Caribbean waters are very warm though in the mid 80s across the board.
