6/16 – Night Rob’s “Hot Then Hotter” Thursday Night Forecast
Heat advisories are up again for Friday, with a repeat likely on Saturday. It didn’t take long for heat advisories to return today, as heat index (real-feel) temps were among the highest of the week. Pascagoula again led the way with a reading of 114. Some temporary relief was had in our northern counties today, and less is expected Friday and Saturday as high pressure to our north shifts this thunderstorm pattern away from the area.
The northern part of the high will weaken Friday and Saturday, but the southern part will strengthen and build in over the area, limiting storm development and causing even hotter temperatures, which will peak Saturday. Warmer spots on Saturday will reach the upper 90s with real-feels in excess of 110, so please take precautions during this extended heat. We’ll be close to record-highs not only Saturday, but possibly next week also.
A weak cold front washing out over the area Sunday will provide a brief drop in humidity, although it’ll stay hot. Real-feels Sunday should hover “only” around 100, so that will definitely be the better weekend day.
However, heat and humidity start a return almost right away on Monday, and builds right back to where it was by mid-week. Hello first day of summer next Tuesday the 21st.
