6/14 – Jeff Vorick’s “Potential Severe Weather” Wednesday Evening Forecast
There is the potential for severe weather in South Mississippi tonight. Our area is under an Enhanced, or Level 3 of 5 threat for severe thunderstorms. Any thunderstorms that make it through our area this evening have the potential to produce damaging winds in excess of 70 MPH and hail of golf ball size. Activity will clear our area by midnight.
The hot and very humid pattern will look to continue for the rest of the week. Heat alerts may be necessary tomorrow as it will feel like 110 degrees in some locations. Thunderstorm chances are also in the picture tomorrow and Friday. The storm track will shift slightly and bring a higher likelihood of thunderstorms.
It is worth noting that there will be the possibility of severe weather with any complex of thunderstorms. The atmosphere is providing the wind energy of April with the energy of a summer airmass. Thunderstorms are in the equation for Father’s Day Weekend too. Make sure to take any necessary precautions with the heat.
