59th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Day
If you visited the First United Methodist Church in Gulfport today, chances are you left with a full stomach and the sweet satisfaction of helping others at the same time.
The 59th annual Kiwanis Pancake Day kicked off this morning at 7 and volunteers are serving thousands of pancakes and sausages until 7 p.m. tonight. Organizers tell News 25 this Christmas tradition is about bringing Gulf Coast families together while serving a worthy cause. Gulfport Kiwanis President Kathy Burns said, “If you are back here between 5 and 7, you would see families who come for dinner every year. It might be people you only see once a year. I see old friends that, you know, this is kind of our meeting place, the first Wednesday in December. It becomes as much a social event and family event as much as a fundraising event and that’s what makes it so special.”
The ladies of the First United Methodist Church in Gulfport also have baked goods available at the breakfast for a small fee.
