52 Gulfport High students make up the ACT 30 Club

Hard work and dedication will lead to many great things. For 52 Gulfport High School students, their efforts led them straight to impressive ACT scores.

GHS held a ceremony unveiling the Admiral’s new ACT 30 Club Monday morning. This club recognizes the success of students who have scored a 30 or higher on the national ACT assessment.

The faces of members of the ACT 30 Club line the walls of the cafeteria, while the banners of the students with the top 11 scores are on display in the main lobby.

Those students say the commitment to their future is what it’s all about.  ACT 30 Club member Cadee Havard said, “I think a lot of kids have also worked hard even if they haven’t had above a 30 on it and I’m glad. It really helps out with getting school paid for. I qualify for a lot of freshman scholarships that you automatically get for ACT.”

ACT 30 Club member Julian Dedeaux said, “The past four years we have put in so much effort in trying to raise our ACT scores and I know for a lot of us it’s a long time coming. A lot of people started off with lower scores and we worked our way up. I just think it’s really rewarding to be in this club.”

A score of 30 on the ACT puts a student at the 93rd percentile, meaning they score higher than 93% of all test takers.
