500 children receive winter coats through ‘Coat the Gulf Coast’ event
Nothing should stop a child from getting outside and enjoying the day, especially the cold.
That’s why ‘Let’s Go! Gulf Coast’ is partnering with Molina Healthcare to provide all children in head start programs in Jackson County with a winter coat.
‘Let’s Go! Gulf Coast’ promotes healthy eating and active living, but not everyone owns a heavy coat, especially in Mississippi.
Now, these children will have the perfect coat for those colder days and they don’t have to stay inside just because they lack the proper clothes. ‘Let’s Go! Gulf Coast’ Executive Director Kelsey Keel said, “It’s important for us to try to meet our community needs so that we can empower them and help them be healthy, be active. Something simple like a winter jacket could potentially prohibit kids from going outside and playing in the winter.”
Jeremy Bolton with Molina Healthcare said, “Hopefully their families will be very happy and I know that during these times some families might not even have the need to pay for these coats, and hopefully we have provided an extra outlet for them.”
