4th of July safety tips from Biloxi Police
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) – The 4th of July is a time to celebrate our nation’s pride and freedom, but the festivities can also lead to serious safety risks. In the City of Biloxi, fireworks are typically illegal except for a few special occasions, with the Fourth of July being one of them. Biloxi Police Lieutenant Candace Young shared important safety tips for celebrating America’s favorite holiday.
Fireworks can also be very frightening to dogs. The loud noises and flashing lights can cause our beloved pets to go into sensory overload. For those planning to celebrate on the water, boaters should be mindful of restricted areas in the Sound, including designated fireworks-free zones. Fireworks-free zones stretch along Beach Boulevard, where the city’s official fireworks show will take place. A detailed map of these zones is available on the City of Biloxi’s website.
If you’re planning to attend the show, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to arrive and expect heavy traffic along Highway 90.
