4th annual Robert McKeithen Memorial Blood Drive

The 4th annual Robert McKeithen Memorial Blood Drive took place at the Biloxi Visitors Center today.

The blood drive is held in honor of Robert McKeithen, the police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2019.

Officials with the Blood Center say there continues to be a shortage in the blood supply that started during COVID.

Donors received a special t-shirt with McKeithen’s name and ‘back the blue’ logo. The blood drive ended at 6 p.m. McKeithen. The Blood Center Public Relations Manager Paul Adams said, “Blood is one of the only medications out there that hospitals use day in and day out, that can’t be manufactured. So, it takes our community to give. If everybody donated twice a year, we would never have a blood shortage.”
