40-year-old man meets dad for first time after being reconnected on 23andMe

Over the weekend, a son meets his dad in Long Beach for the first time in 40 years.

Texas native Seth Nay was born in El Paso, Texas and reconnected with his father Geoffrey Boatner virtually through the site 23andMe in 2022.

This weekend, they finally met in person.

For most of his life, Nay believed his biological father was dead and Boatner has had many failed attempts at locating his son.

Now reunited, both father and son say they’re more alike than they’d ever imagined. Nay said, “My moustache grows the same way his does. It’s just, it’s unreal. Just looking at him. It’s like, man, that’s what I am going to look like when I’m older.”

Boatner said, “The best thing you can do is just really hope for what you got and work with what you have and make it flourish even more so than when you found it.”

“Thank God every day because I get to see him now, I get to talk to him. And most kids don’t get that, 40-years-old and I’m finally getting to meet my father. That just blows my mind.”

“Today is a very warm and enlightening full of love day for me that I haven’t felt that in a long, long time.”

“Don’t lose hope because when you lose hope and when you give up is where the story is going to end. You got to keep pushing, keep going. Look for yourself, find yourself and everything else will come and find you.”

Boatner just turned 61 and Nay says he plans to visit his father again this summer.
