34th annual Arbor Day Run preview
This Saturday at Point Cadet Plaza in Biloxi, Disability Connection, in partnership with Gulf Coast Running Club, will host their 34th annual Arbor Day Run.
This fun, outdoor event promotes healthy lifestyles to individuals of all ages with and without disabilities.
This event has two goals: to encourage a healthy lifestyle and to encourage people with disabilities to be active community participants by joining the fun of a run.
This race includes a half mile challenge so that everyone, including those in wheelchairs, can participate in the benefits of a run with awards following. Disability Connection Program Director Kathy Stafford said, “It’s more than just a run. It’s a social event. They love to come out and see their peers, but they really enjoy walking the race with legitimate people that are actually running a real race.”
Disability Connection is offering a second option where schools and groups can participate remotely at the time of their choosing.
The run registration fee is $25 per person. Registration for the race will start at 8 a.m. and the run will begin at 9.
