2nd Amendment Tax Free Holiday is This Weekend

Gun store owners are looking forward to the 2nd Amendment tax free holiday this weekend.

Dad’s Super Pawn owner, Kevin Riley, says his customers have been talking about the 2nd Amendment tax free weekend for about a month now, anxiously looking forward to their gun and accessory purchases. Riley says, “It’s going to be great for the consumer, great for the hunter this weekend. They should be pleased with our state and what they’re doing for them to promote the hunting products and hunting in this state.”

Governor Phil Bryant signed the sportsmen tax holiday into law earlier this year and just a few weeks later was awarded the National Rifle Association Defender of Freedom Award. While some critics disagree with the Governor, gun owner, Jim Walker, believes this holiday supports the beliefs of Mississippians. Walker says, “It was a good piece of legislation passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor. It does good things for our economy and it’s great for the hunters of the State of Mississippi.”

Included in the tax free holiday are not only guns and ammo, but optics and targets. Riley also says, “We sell more firearms in little old Gulfport, Mississippi than most gun dealers throughout the whole country. According to A.T.F., we are in the top 50 in the nation.”

With many hunting seasons in their first few weeks, this tax free weekend will give hunters a break on their early season purchases. Walker closes, “Hunting and fishing is big business in Mississippi. I call it therapy. It’s a good way to relieve stress and have a good time, especially with family and friends.”

Many gun stores will extend their hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so customers can take full advantage of the holiday.
