28th annual Mullet and Music Festival

Hundreds fled to the 28th annual Gautier Mullet Festival this weekend.

There was a little bit for everyone at this year’s festival such as live music, plenty of vendors, face painting, pet adoptions, and even a car show.

The main attraction, the mullet toss, had plenty trying to take home the trophy for who threw the fish the farthest.

Victoria Young, chairman of the festival, says it takes a lot of hard work to put this on and it almost didn’t happen this year.  “Unfortunately, the chairman of the board for the past few years passed away last year. The Mullet Festival was actually going to fold. A couple of concerned citizens got together and decided we didn’t want that to happen. We did it in about three months. It really is to benefit the community and just bring the community together.”

Overall, the Gautier Mullet and Music Festival was a great time for the whole family. Organizers say they felt very happy with the large crowds it brought to the Gautier community.
