Ocean Springs Lions Club offers program honoring first responders

The Ocean Springs Lions Club is inviting the public and all first responders to join them for a program honoring the 9/11 first responders.

The program will be held starting at 5:30 p.m. at Aunt Jenny’s Restaurant in Ocean Springs.

The presentation will recount the real-life story of Stephen Siller.

The off-duty firefighter grabbed his gear when he heard about the attack on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, and headed into New York City.

When he could not get his personal vehicle through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, Siller ran, then began helping rescue victims — and ultimately died while saving others.

Learn more about Siller and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation during this program.
