Upgrades coming to dog park on Popps Ferry Road in Biloxi

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) – Dog lovers in Biloxi have something to look forward to as new upgrades are on the way for the Biloxi Dog Park on Popps Ferry Road.

The Biloxi City Council has approved a bid from Magnolia Recreation to purchase and install new amenities at the well-loved park.

The $22,257 project will include hoops, steppers, a dog walk ramp, two dog fire hydrants, two dog resting tables, a jump-over, a water fountain, and three waste stations.

While the city is still finalizing the schedule, installation is expected to begin soon, just in time for some summertime fun for local pups. “This is one of the most used parks in the city,” said Sherry Bell, Biloxi Parks & Recreation Director. “We have heard the wants of the people who are using the park and are excited to be able to provide these fun and useful amenities for the continued use and health of the four-legged visitors.”

The Biloxi Dog Park is one of three dog parks operated by the city. Alongside the large Popps Ferry location, dog parks can also be found at Hiller Park on Pass Road and Savarro Park on Irish Hill. All three are open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
