22-year-old found guilty, sentenced to life for murder of Lamont Hayes

The 22-year-old accused for his role in killing a 41-year-old Gulfport resident in 2014 was found guilty of capital murder today.
According to the Harrison County District Attorney’s Office, Jalen Williams was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. This conviction stemmed from a July 22, 2014 home invasion in the Olivet subdivision in Gulfport.
Testimony revealed that late in the evening, the victim, Lamont Hayes, was found with multiple gunshot wounds after Williams and Rashad Johnson entered the house with masks and demanded money from Hayes.
Testimony also revealed Williams admitted sliding the gun to Johnson and told him to get the victim off of him. Johnson pleaded guilty to pulling the trigger and will be sentenced on May 1st.
