20th annual Jolly Golf Tournament fundraiser to support community

It was a Jolly good time on the greens with golfers raising money for a good cause!

The Jolly is one of the signature golf tournaments on the Gulf Coast, drawing over 200 golfers and 64 teams for this year’s tournament at Shell Landing.

The Jolly started in 2003 to honor Jolly McCarty. On Saturday, the event celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Through the Bacot-McCarty Foundation, the Jolly raises money for charities and organizations on the Coast.

The Jolly organizers say this event is a big reason why they are able to help impact so many lives. Chairman of the Board Phillip Pogue said, “We support and we sponsor a lot of scholarships every year. One of my favorite things that we help is the Ronald McDonald House. We do so much for the community and this is how we get the money to do it. Todd said it and I’m going to keep using it, we’re raising the young leaders to come back to our Mississippi Gulf Coast.”

Board member Rich Westfall said, “To be able to have an event like this with such great reach benefiting so many young people on the Coast and being able to do it for 20 years, it’s really a blessing.”

Some of the organizations that benefit from this tournament include the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA.
