Operation Saturation: Mississippi Highway Patrol Increasing Trooper Visibility On I 10

Jackson, Miss -The Mississippi Highway Patrol concluded the 2024 Memorial Day Holiday Travel Period Monday at midnight. The enforcement period began on Friday, May 24th at 6:00 a.m.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol issued a total of 7,026 citations, made 118 arrests for impaired driving, and cited 864 motorists for seatbelt violations. MHP also investigated 135 crashes resulting in 53 injuries with 4 fatal crashes and 4 deaths. The fatal crashes occurred in Benton, Tunica, Itawamba, and Harrison Counties.

Fatal Crash, Benton County, 5/24/2024

On Friday, May 24, 2024, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a single vehicle fatal crash on Highway 4 in Benton County. A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 48-year-old Dwight Holcomb of Lamar, Mississippi, traveled east on Highway 4 when the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a utility pole. Dwight

Holcomb received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Fatal Crash, Tunica County, 5/26/2024

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, at approximately 7:48 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Highway 4 in Tunica County. A 2005 Ford Focus driven by 37-year-old Jhajuan M. Milan of Sarah, MS, was traveling east on Highway 4 when it left the roadway and collided with a culvert.

Jhajuan M. Milan received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Fatal Crash, Itawamba County, 5/26/2024

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, at approximately 10:13 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a singlevehicle fatal crash on Highway 25 in Itawamba County.

A 2006 Toyota Prius driven by 59-year-old Kenneth G. Cook of Smithville, Mississippi, traveled north on Highway 25 when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Kenneth G. Cook received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Fatal Crash, Harrison County, 5/26/2024

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, at approximately 5 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Interstate 10 in Harrison County.

A 2015 Harley-Davidson operated by 39-year-old Roy Dale Holden Jr. of Denham Springs, LA, and a 16-year-old passenger were traveling east on Interstate 10 when the passenger fell from the moving motorcycle. A 2009 Harley-Davidson operated by 43-year-old Amanda Holden, and the wife of Roy Holden, traveled east on Interstate 10 when she and two other motorcycles took evasive actions to avoid hitting the passenger and crashed.

Two people were transported via ambulance from the scene while two others were airlifted. Amanda Holden received fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
