2024 Billfish Classic sets sail

Teams set off earlier today to take part in the 2024 Billfish Classic.

Boats sailed from the Golden Nugget to the Beau Rivage in a single line, then cutting loose to find the big catch in the waters of the Mississippi Sound.

The tournament promotes conservation and sustainable fishing practices.

As Marketing Director Robbie Carter tells us, fishermen from all around the Gulf Region are taking part this year. “It’s a family fun event; it will bring the community together for several decades now. Fishermen are coming from all over the northern Gulf, from Tampa to Texas. They are here to party and have a good time in Biloxi. These guys are very fine-tuned machines. If you look behind me, they are getting ready. They got to have everything good to go because they have three days off shore for a lot of money. They want to make it count.”

Scales will be open Friday and Saturday starting at 3 p.m. The fun ends with an award ceremony at 10:30 on Sunday at the Golden Nugget.
