It was a big day for one community leader in Biloxi.
Gregory Crapo was honored as the ‘2019 Biloxi Outstanding Citizen of the Year’ at a reception hosted by the Biloxi Lions Club.
Crapo is a member of numerous local community service organizations and currently serves as executive director of Catholic Charities of South Mississippi and as the director of the de l’Epee Deaf Center.
Crapo’s father, Leo, was also named ‘Citizen of the Year’ in 1967 and he says it’s an honor to carry on a tradition of volunteerism. “When you count on volunteerism and the service clubs and the people who just give their time, that’s when things really happen.”
This year also marked the 90th presentation of the award.
