While love may be in the air, it’s also Mississippi Arbor Day and the City of Ocean Springs celebrated by giving back to residents.
The city partnered with the Mississippi Forestry Commission and Fulgams Incorporated to distribute over 500 trees to people today near City Hall.
Residents had the chance to pick between chestnut oaks, persimmons, as well as cherrybark, and Shumard oak.
Mayor Shea Dobson hopes this initiative helps with city beautification. “They’re going to plant them and you know, really keep in mind, really when they got to water them and all that stuff. It’s just a win-win for the city, for the residents, and for planet Earth.”
The mayor hopes to make this tree giveaway an annual event.
