The man who opened fire on sheriff’s deputies in the Kiln last week has been arrested in Orleans Parish.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Mark McMaster is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Deputies responded to Crazy Horse Drive for a disturbance call. Upon arrival, McMaster started shooting at deputies. Deputies returned fire, striking McMaster.
Hancock Chief Deputy Jeremy Skinner said McMaster was taken into custody after he was released from a hospital in Orleans Parish.
McMaster is being held at the Orleans Parish Prison awaiting extradition to Hancock County.
