The new year brings new developments in the City of Wiggins and the small city is continuously growing.
Last year, the city celebrated the opening of a new and improved justice complex, a partnership with Memorial Hospital at Stone County, and paved the way for tourism on Hall Street.
Phase one of the overlay project on Hall Street is complete and now city officials are starting phase two, adding a turning lane where it intersects on Highway 26.
Residents and visitors can also expect new businesses coming to the downtown area.
Wiggins Mayor Joel Miles tells News 25 how the city looks moving forward. “I feel very optimistic about it. There’s some more businesses coming to the Highway 49 corridor. We’d love to have a chain restaurant or something like that, but it’ll come. It just takes time.”
Mayor Miles is also looking forward to the annual Pine Hill Festival in March.
