There is new progress on the Bertucci Project on the northeast corner of the Popp’s Ferry/Atkinson Road intersection.
The Biloxi Planning Commission approved a preliminary layout for phase one of the project which will include 85 single family residential lots and 26 townhouse lots.
Community Development Director Jerry Creel tells News 25 about the potential economic impact this could bring to the City of Biloxi. “You know, a lot of people think you don’t get a lot of revenue from single family housing, but in fact, you do. Right now, we’ve got one undeveloped piece of property right there, that’s probably generating minimal taxes. But once you subdivide it into individual lots, then you get property revenues off of each those newly created lots.”
Phase one will go to the Biloxi City Council for approval on February 11th before any further actions on the project take place.
