Mike Guerrero returning as Shuckers manager


Bringing Mike Guerrero back to the Gulf Coast is becoming standard procedure for the Biloxi Shuckers who announced today that the veteran manager will be returning for a fifth season with the club.

Under his watch, the Shuckers have set single-season franchise records for wins in back-to-back years, collecting back-to-back South Division titles in the process.

Guerrero won Southern League Manager of the Year in 2018.

Here’s a full look at the rest of the staff coming to Biloxi, starting with new Pitching Coach Fred Dabney and Chuckie Caufield who’s taking his first crack as the hitting coach.

They’re joined by Assistant Coach Nestor Corredor, Athletic Trainer Jeff Bodenhamer, Strength and Conditioning Specialist Jason Morriss, and Development Coach Paul Moeller.

A native of Pass Christian and a St. Stanislaus alum, Jeff Haeger comes to News 25 from right in our backyard. He most recently spent more than three years working as the sports reporter for WHLT-TV in Hattiesburg, where he provided extensive coverage of his alma mater, The University of Southern Mississippi. At Southern Miss, Jeff was a member of the Honors College and graduated with a B.A. degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Spanish. He also wrote for USM's award-winning school newspaper, The Student Printz, where he won first place for Best Sports Story in 2013. Jeff loves to travel, and is excited to get back on the water to reunite with his family.
