HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV) — Charges have been dropped in the case against a Saucier man accused in the shooting death of his son and another man in February.

According to court documents, Roberts was trying to protect himself during a fight when he accidentally killed two-year-old Chance Roberts while firing shots at 20-year-old David Garcia, who was also killed in the February 10th shooting on Riceville Road.

During the initial investigation, Roberts told authorities that the brawl escalated from an argument over Garcia being accused of dropping his baby daughter.

As of Monday, Billy Jack Roberts is a free man and the charges of first degree murder and manslaughter have been dropped after the grand jury’s findings.
