It was a night of celebration for the men who gave their time and resources to fighting breast cancer.
The “Real Men Wear Pink of the Gulf Coast” were celebrated tonight at White Pillars in Biloxi. More than 85,000 were raised in 2019 here on the Coast, all by men.
Every dollar raised helps the American Cancer Society save lives from breast cancer through early detection and prevention, research, and patient support.
One of the top fundraising events on the Coast was October’s Pink Dress Run, an event that Organizer John Carter developed with the hopes of establishing a fun way to give back. “People want to give back to their community and all that and to find a fun way to do that. So, it’s not really checks and balances and all that anymore. It just becomes a lot of fun going out there with your buddies and all of that.”
Community Manager Courtney Anderson said, “It’s been an amazing experience. I can’t quit telling these men thank you and they’re like ‘quit saying thank you it is our honor, it is our pleasure.” They do this because they care.”
