Man charged with first degree murder in Sunday shooting in George County

On Sunday, December 8, 2019, the George County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person being shot at a residence in the 100 block of Brock Road, in George County.

Upon arrival at the residence, Sheriff’s deputies found a male victim, 47-year-old James Gregory Adams, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. ASAP ambulance service transported Adams to an area hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced deceased.

Deputies located the suspect in the shooting, 62-year-old Michael Alex Brock, at a residence across the road from the scene. He was taken into custody without incident. Brock was transported to the George Regional Hospital for evaluation and then booked into the George County Regional Correctional Facility on one charge of first degree murder.

After an initial appearance before George County Justice Court Judge Jessie Underwood, Brock was given a $500,000 bond.
