Mississippi State keeping Joe Moorhead

There’s no team that stood more to gain from that Ole Miss Egg Bowl loss than Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs are now going to a bowl game for the tenth year in a row and the second under Head Coach Joe Moorhead.

Reports had his job on the hot seat prior to his second straight Egg Bowl victory, but it appears as if his position is now safe heading into the 2020 campaign.

Coach Moorhead says the alternative wouldn’t have been a pretty sight. “This is my school. This is my team. This is my program. And if you want to ask, I’m not interested in anybody’s validation except for the guys in that locker room. And every single one of them, you ask who’s the right man for the job, they’re going to tell you it’s me. Alright. And I promise you that. So I’m not going to get into what we’ve done the past few years for now for us to be able to get to a bowl. So no one get it twisted. Alright. Understand what it means for this program. Okay. And I’m here. And this is my team. This is my school. This is my program. And they’ll have to drag my Yankee – bleep – out of here.”

Coach Moorhead is now 14-11 overall during his two seasons in Starkville.
