This weekend marked the start of one of the biggest holiday celebrations on the Coast.
While the ‘Harbor Lights Winter Festival’ opened to crowds on Friday evening, Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes, along with some help from Make-A-Wish kid Drew Endsely and Santa, officially flipped the switch on well over a million lights on Saturday night to mark the start of the festival.
Drew also received gifts from Santa and enjoyed the light displays at the festival with his family.
Mayor Hewes says the festival is a benefit for both festivalgoers and the Coast as a whole. “People are using this to kick off the season and it sets the tone. Also, for our Coast, extends the tourism season all the way through the end of the year.”
The festival runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. until December 31st, but is closed on Christmas Eve.
