When it comes to training for quality health care, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College ranks number one in the state for an Associate Degree in Nursing according to the nursing advocacy program RegisteredNursing.org.
The college also ranked number two for Registered Nursing programs in Mississippi, just under the Mississippi University for Women.
MGCCC’s nursing program received a 99.35 out of a possible 100 on the ranking scale, landing this South Mississippi program tops in the state when it comes to Mississippi’s Community Colleges’ nursing programs.
MGCCC has more than 500 nursing students in the associate degree nursing, practical nursing and LPN-to-RN transitional programs at the college’s Bryant Center in Biloxi.
Gulf Coast nursing students have a 93-percent passage rate over the past three years, and the program boasts a 97-percent job placement rate.
In all, 23 nursing programs in the state were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students toward licensure and beyond.
