The City of Waveland has gone to the dogs, literally.
Today, city officials cut the ribbon on the brand new ‘bark park’ in the city. The new doggy playground is located on Central Avenue in front of Elwood Memorial Park.
All dogs and their people are welcome at this park regardless of size and there are even separate sections for big and little dogs.
City officials tell News 25 that this new bark park is exactly what the City of Waveland was missing.
Waveland Alderman Bobby Richardson said, “Dogs are not allowed on the beaches and that is where people love to walk their animals on the beach, but without a leash on the beach your dog is just gonna run forever. Here, you have a contained area where you can just let them run and the dogs can have company. They can play and they won’t run and get into any sort of trouble or get hit by a car or interfere with anyone else on the beach.”
City officials only ask that you clean up after your dog while at the park. The park provides owners with bags and trash cans for animal waste.
