Ocean Springs is encouraging residents to get active in community clean-up this weekend.
The city is hosting the first-ever ‘Community Clean-up Day’ this Saturday at Freedom Field. It is a new event created as part of beautification efforts between the City of Ocean Springs and the Chamber of Commerce.
Participants will go out into the community to pick up litter and play their part in keeping the city clean. Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson said, “It’s something we’re doing. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. You know, the city has limited resources, of course, and you know, our public works does a great job. I think it’s always good to just give them a helping hand.”
El Saltillo Restaurant and the District Coffee Company will be on hand to provide refreshments while the YMCA will offer 50 percent off on their ‘joining fees’ for those who volunteer at the event.
If you want to join the effort, stop by Freedom Field in Ocean Springs on Saturday morning between 8 and 10.
