Two fire stations in Harrison County have new ratings, and that’s good news for those who live in the north Woolmarket and Saucier fire districts.
According to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors and Harrison County Fire Services chief Pat Sullivan, the two fire stations located in the areas in District 5 have received a decrease in ratings from the Mississippi State Rating Bureau.
A lower rating leads to lower insurance paid out by those who live in these areas.
Ratings went from an eight rating to a seven at both stations.
The Mississippi State Rating Bureau rates the state’s fire stations on a scale of one to ten, with a one being the ideal rating.
Fire insurance ratings are based on several factors including firefighter response time, training, record keeping, and response distance.
