The City of Biloxi made some important decisions in regard to the renovation and restoration of the Saenger Theatre.
Back in June, they received bids for the renovations on the outside of the theatre, which included the fly tower and roof.
The City Council decided to update the resolution to add additional work to the bid, including working on the H-VAC system. They had to table this bid back in June because they had to find more funding before they could accept bids, which they have now found.
The city also continued to look at the proposals they requested months prior. These proposals come from those who want to manage and run the theatre once the construction is complete. Cecilia Dobbs-Walton with the City of Biloxi said, “It is exciting for the City of Biloxi. The council approved the resolution for the city to move forward with the bid on some of the exterior work. So, soon you are actually going to see construction going on here. This is the first stage for moving forward in getting the Saenger open and back running.”
They did accept a bid at the meeting and work on the Saenger should begin soon.
