Thirty-nine year-old Nicky Johns has pleaded guilty to murder after shooting and killing a man outside the Travel Lodge Hotel in September 2017.
When Ocean Springs police arrived on scene, they found the victim, Christopher Rochelle of Columbia, Tennessee, in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the head.
Hotel surveillance video revealed that a vehicle driven by Rochelle and Johns and a female witness pulled into the hotel parking lot.
Johns shot the victim in the back from the driver’s seat, went through his pockets, and then fled the scene.
He was arrested on September 7th, 2017 in Lafayette, Louisiana by the U.S. Marshals following a high-speed chase.
Today, Johns was sentenced to life in prison.
