The Coast Transit Authority is heading in a good direction thanks to a federal grant just announced and secured by Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith, and Congressman Steven Palazzo.
The CTA will be given $744,000 dollars to help support clean energy transit services in Gulfport.
The grant is part of the Low and No Emissions program within the US Department of Transportation.
This program provides funds to state and local governmental authorities for the purchase or lease of zero and low-emission transit buses and related facilities.
Along with the Federal Department of Transportation grant, Coast Transit has also received a $100,000 commitment from Mississippi Power for this initiative.
