Members of the Mississippi Air National Guard took on a special mission as the weekend began.
Around 15 volunteers from the Combat Readiness Training Center in Gulfport deployed Friday to three Harrison County schools for various projects.
At Crossroads Elementary in Gulfport, they were organizing books and getting ready for the new school year. Some of the other projects included pressure washing walls and walkways and shoveling dirt along roadsides.
National Guard members tell News 25 they try to volunteer as much as they can to lend a hand in their community.
