The weather didn’t stop fans of one famous artist from celebrating on Saturday.
Frida Fest was held at 100 Men Hall in Bay St. Louis and recognized the works and life of late Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.
In addition to good food and music, fans also participated in a Frida Kahlo look-a-like contest and many recreated the artist’s signature floral crowns.
The event was a way for people to recognize Kahlo’s contributions to art and culture. Gregory Barabino with the 100 Men Hall of Board of Directors said, “Just celebrating Frida as a person that’s done some amazing things and the art, the culture, and everything that she stood for.”
Frida Kahlo produced around 200 paintings during her life. She died in 1954.
