The Memorial Day holiday weekend turned deadly Monday night after a crash in Jackson County.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened last night at about 9:45 pm in the westbound lane of Highway 90 near Highway 57, as the driver of a 1997 Toyota Camry traveling east on 90 attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 57 north through a red turn signal.
A westbound 2013, green Ford Escape then crashed into the passenger side of the Camry, sending the driver of the Camry to the hospital with injuries.
The driver of the Ford had only minor injuries.
The passenger in the Toyota Camry was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries in that crash.
